Lucie Baker Dance
As a dance educator, I provide opportunities for students to get in touch with the wisdom inherent in their bodies. I do this by offering anatomically based instruction, cultural background information, and space for creative play in my classes. It is important for me that students connect with dance in a way that is personal and relevant to them.
As a dance performer, I love bringing my passion and curiosity to the stage with the hope of inspiring the communities for which I dance. It is my goal to create experiences wherein audience members can connect with the wildness of being alive and their common humanity.
As a dance maker, the work I create is an exploration of how to integrate the visceral experience of the unknown into the ritualistic structure of performance. I am interested in the knowledge of the body and how to access it. I take an interdisciplinary approach, working with collaborators of all kinds.
