As we move through the seasons of the year the Equinox and Solstices provide significant markers in the light. This simple shift has profound impact on the Earth. Everything from the smallest living cell to the erosion of mountain ranges is affected by the relationship between Earth and Sun.
Throughout the year we celebrate these pivotal moments by reconnecting with nature in the environment around us and within us through expressive arts. At times the demands of daily life can rob us of our inspiration and opportunities to connect. By dancing, drawing and writing in community we take pause to reorient and remember what makes our life blood pump.
No experience necessary. All bodies welcome. Join us!
Next up: Spring Equinox Event on March 19th Sunday, 10am - 11:30pm Pacific Time, 2023 Online
This March I will be performing my own original duet with Erica Badgeley created in collaboration with sculptor Connor Walden. Produced by Maia Durfee and hosted at the Mini Mart City Park in Seattle's Georgetown neighborhood the evening features a variety of local choreographers. Join us for an evening of art and exploration as we bid farewell to winter and welcome to spring.
At Century Ballroom I will host 4 classes in the 70's era partner dance, Hustle. The class advances from basic rhythms and solo traveling steps to connection and partnered movement vocabulary. During the class we build community as well as dance skills all to the sounds of disco. You can attend the whole series or drop-in. Come groove with us!
Thursdays March 16th, 30th, April 6th and 13th @ 7-8pm (No class March 23rd)
I will be offering classes at Open Flight Studios focused on supporting professional and advanced dancers in deepening their practice. We cultivate awareness, coordination, strength, and expressive articulation through juicy breath-based phrase work and playful improvisations. The class draws on Limón movement principles paired with contemporary floor work and somatic skill building. We will drop our weight, move our joints, play with momentum, and embody our souls.
Thursdays March 16th, 23rd, 30th and April 6th @ 10-11:30am
