In the audio file available below you will hear my voice guiding you through a 15 minute movement exploration designed to introduce you to your body, its anatomy, and expressive somatic movement.
Setting the stage: Before you begin the exploration, create a supportive environment. - Identify a space where you can relax, focus, and move freely. Make yourself as comfortable as possible. - Collect your materials including writing and/or drawing supplies of your choice. You will be prompted to reflect at the end of your dance. - The exploration does not include music. If you’d like to use music, feel free to set up your sound system before hand. I suggest using instrumental music.
Hot Tips! Consider all of the prompts to be suggestions. Working with therapeutic expressive arts is a way to reconnect with yourself and identify what you need to tend to in your life. In the next 15 minutes you will move through a process that may bring up some surprising emotions including resistance or discomfort. I encourage you to modulate your engagement. Avoid judgement. Get curious about what you’re feeling and remember you can take a break at any time. You are the captain of your own ship. Remember also to have fun and play. There is no wrong way to do this.
Feel free to reach out to me via the Contact page if you have questions or want to share anything that comes up for you. I am always fascinated by what people discover when they explore their movement. If you find this exploration engaging I encourage you to hop into a class and/or join my mailing list for more!
Enjoy!
